We are building relationship-based mentoring for people after prison, addiction, homelessness or a major life change. This is not about running someone else’s life. It is about listening, being honest, setting goals and helping a person take the next step. Where possible and safe, we want support to begin before release or before someone leaves rehabilitation, then continue in the community.
When life has been chaotic, basic things can become huge barriers. No ID. No bank account. No money plan. No CV. No email address. No idea how to apply for a job.
Urban Shift is developing practical re-entry and life-skills help around identification, banking, budgeting, online forms, appointments, routines, CVs and job preparation.
People need more than survival. They need purpose, opportunity and a reason to get up.
As Urban Shift grows, we want to develop routes into volunteering, training, work experience, employment and peer mentoring. We are not claiming these opportunities are all running now. This is the direction we are building towards: real chances to learn, contribute and move forward.
We know what it is like when life has gone off track. Prison. Addiction. Homelessness. Broken relationships. Starting again with nothing. Urban Shift is being built by people who have lived it, not just read about it.
We are building long-term mentoring, recovery support, practical re-entry help and real community for people rebuilding life in Nottingham and across the UK.
Urban Shift brings together lived experience and frontline experience. We have seen what prison, addiction, homelessness and instability can do to a person and the people around them. We have also seen that a person is not finished because they have a conviction, a relapse, a broken past or a history that makes other people step back.
We are not here to judge you, talk at you or give up on you when things get hard. We know a fresh start takes more than one meeting, one course, one housing offer or one job application. It takes time, honest people and someone in your corner.
